Other Positions
Experience Assistant:
This volunteer keeps track of everything associated with Experience
Points. He brings a sign-in sheet to
each game. After the game, he submits a
report to the primary Storyteller listing who has earned XP this week and how
much.
Players
then send the Experience Assistant any XP expenditures they’re doing between
games. The deadline for that is the
Friday a week before the next game. He
then submits a report to the primary Storyteller listing everyone who has spent
XP this week and how much.
This job is
a minor, simple duty, but it helps take one more task off the primary
Storyteller. The Experience Assistant is
also welcome to come up with new ways to give out experience and enhance
roleplay, as long as he clears it with the primary Storyteller, and is able to
keep track of any system he introduces.
I would like to get a more complicated system in place to reward players
who set goals, make journals, and really get involved in the game, but I don’t
have time to do it all alone. That’s
where the Experience Assistant comes in.
Downtime Assistant: This
volunteer receives and sorts through players’ Downtime Actions. For most actions, he will simply reply to the
player on whether the Downtime is acceptable or not, and any information they
gain. The Downtime Assistant has a lot
of power to control the ongoing plot, and introduce new plots in response to
Downtime Actions.
I’d like
the Downtime Assistant to get creative with making the game fun for everyone. Creating rumors to make the game world come
alive would be great, as would creating villages and NPCs to make the land of
Horizon interesting and involving. I
need someone who really has the time and the spirit to make the time in-between
games as fun as the games themselves.
Chronicler: This
volunteer will keep an online journal of the major events that happen at each
game, and update it after each game.
Only about a page or so, discussing what people are doing, what plots
they’re following, etc. The Chronicler
doesn’t have to play an NPC, but he should play a PC who gets around quite a
bit and listens to everyone.
Rote Assistant: This
volunteer will help me keep track of new Rote requests, and make sure they’re
balanced with other Rotes. Balancing magic
is harder than it sounds – keeping magic powerful and effective, but not
game-breaking. Making the game
dangerous, but not instantly lethal. If
you’re interested, just let me know – I’ll whip up a short test/survey to make
sure we’re on the same wavelength about magic, then you can go to it.
